It allows the transmission of short messages (SMS) between a remote server (1) and a mobile telephone user (7), that is in communication with a short message service centre (5) via GSM network 10. It is characterised in that remote server (1) communicates with the short message server (5) via a hypertext transfer protocol (http), for which both server (5) and remote server (1) have means of bi-directional transmission/reception (2, 3, 8 and 9) of the short message via the Internet protocol (http).
