PURPOSE: A method for transmitting data on a control layer in a mobile communication system is provided to transmit data always in a normal procedure by selecting a TFC(Transport Format Combination) based on a purpose of data to be transmitted. CONSTITUTION: A transmission channel requests transmission of data from each logical channel, receives a response field from each logical channel, selects a TFC on the basis of the amount of buffer data on the response field and priority of logical channels, and receives data from a corresponding logical channel(S1-S4). It is checked whether an error occurs while the transmission channel transmits the data through a physical channel in the air(S5). When each logical channel transmits a response field upon receiving a data transmission request from the transmission channel, it also transmits a field indicating a data purpose and the amount of data transmitted for the purpose(S6,S7). The transmission channel selects a TFC on the basis of the priority and the purpose of the data(S8).
