PURPOSE: A method for supplying a temporary telephone number is provided to enable a communication system to determine a subscriber number of a telephone associated with a called number if the called number is a temporary telephone number, so that a user can contact with the selected telephone without announcing the subscriber number of the telephone. CONSTITUTION: A communication system receives a request to a temporary telephone number(101). The communication system determines the temporary telephone number(103). The communication system assigns the temporary telephone number to a requested telephone(105). The communication system receives a display for which the temporarily telephone number is not assigned to the requested telephone(107). The communication system returns a next temporary telephone number to a pool of available numbers(109).
