The system for vehicle (1) traffic monitoring comprises at least one central computer (4) with equipment for mobile telecommunication (2) to which are connected a vehicle register (6) containing details of the vehicle identity and properties, a driver register (7) containing details of the driver and authorization to drive the vehicle, a map data base (8) containing a computerized map system and a traffic data base (9) containing details of traffic expectations. Each vehicle connected to the system contains equipment for mobile telecommunication with the central computer, transmission and receiving equipment (3) so that in the global navigation satellite system details of the vehicle position are given and safety arrangements. Personal identity details have to be given and approved by the system. The central computer remains in telecommunication with traffic and road-related institutions.
