PURPOSE: A portable communication terminal and an image display method are provided to resize image data received in an image memory to optimally display the image data, and to store an image photographed in a photographing unit based on a DCF(Design rule for Camera File system) standard, then to use a thumbnail image for transmission record displays or expansive displays. CONSTITUTION: When a sequence is set to be (c), (b), and (d) while displaying transmission records of a portable phone, if a clear key(129) is manipulated from (b), (c) is displayed without directly returning to (a) according to manipulating records stored in a buffer. In case of manipulating to an expansive display state of image data of (d) from a detailed display state of (b), starting from a transmission record display state of (a), if the clear key(129) is manipulated from the detailed display state of (b), the transmission record state of (a) is displayed according to manipulating records stored in the buffer.
