PURPOSE: A seat reclining apparatus for a vehicle is provided to improve the quality, the durability and the safety of passengers by preventing displacement of parts with keeping stiffness in transmitting impact to the seat or the reclining apparatus at a collision. CONSTITUTION: A seat reclining apparatus(30) comprises a lower plate(31) and an upper plate(32) fixed to a cushion frame and a seat back frame; a plate holder(33) contacted to the lower plate and the upper plate; a fixing pin(34) fastening the plate holder and the lower plate; a folding pin(35) moving freely by combining the plate holder with the upper plate; a return spring(36) pressing the upper plate to be folded; upper teeth(37) formed around the lower edge of the upper plate; a lock gear(39) and a cam(40) inserted to an operation hole(38) in the upper center of the lower plate to select reclining or unreclining; an operating pin(41) protruded through a pin hole(42) of the plate holder and placed in an operation hole; and an operating lever(43) fixed to the cam by a lever pin(45) and interlocked with the lock gear for reclining.
