PURPOSE: A color cathode ray tube is provided to allow the cathode ray tube to have the same width as the flat cathode ray tube has by stretching the tension mask having no bridge only in a horizontal or vertical direction. CONSTITUTION: A color cathode ray tube comprises a panel(1) having inner and outer surfaces which are substantially flat; a funnel mounted on the rear surface of the panel; a tension mask(5) having a plurality of electron beam passing holes formed at a predetermined interval, and which is fixed on the inner surface of the panel; and a support arranged on the inner surface of the panel, and which supports the tension mask. The tension mask is stretched only in a horizontal or vertical direction.
