PURPOSE: An optical signal converter, an optical coder, an optical decoder, and an OCDM(Optical Code Division Multiplexing) communication device are provided to have better coding/decoding properties to suppress interference between optically coded signals. CONSTITUTION: Signals coded in the first and second transmission channels are combined by an optical coupler(33), and are transmitted through an optical fiber(37). An optical pulse signal generator(31A), an optical circulator(15A), and an optical coder(11A) configure the first transmission channel, while an optical pulse signal generator(31B), an optical circulator(15B), an optical coder(11B), and a variable delayer(41) configure the second transmission channel. Each of the optical pulse generators(31A,31B) generates pseudo-random optical RZ signals, respectively. A signal coded by the optical coder(11B) is delayed by the variable delayer(41), and is combined with a signal coded in the optical coder(11A) by the optical coupler(33).
