The rudder line shaft (1) consists of a rudder port tube (2) associated with a rudder shaft as well as two self-aligning ball joints (4,5) located at each end (22) of the port tube. The ball joints are each constituted by a hollow housing (7) and a bush. Independent claims are included for a rudder with the line shaft, a sail or motor boat comprising a rudder line shaft and a method of making the line shaft.
