PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for totaling an around-the-clock POS enabling around-the-clock operation. SOLUTION: In the system where a plurality of POS terminals 20 are connected to a store server 10, the store server 10 is provided with a PLU master database 11 for storing information about merchandise; a time window setting part 12 for setting and storing the off-line time window of each POS terminal 20; and a control part 13 for controlling the entire operation. The POS terminal 20 is provided with a merchandise database 21 for storing the same information as the merchandise information of the POS terminal 20 stored in the store server 10; a memory 22 storing the off-line time window designated by the store server 10; and a control part 23 for controlling the entire operation.
