PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophoretic display of a microcapsule form in a manner as to have holes of a diameter smaller than the wavelength of a visible ray region to permit solution of the flocculation problem among charged particles generated in the electrophoretic display. SOLUTION: The electrophoretic display is provided with an insulative template 107 which exist on a lower electrode protective film 105 and is internally provided with a plurality of the holes 109 of the diameter smaller than the wavelength of the visible ray region, dielectric fluids 113 which exist in the holes 109 and have one hue visually, the charged particles 111 which are dispersed in the dielectric fluids, have the hue visually different from the hue of the dielectric fluids 113 and operate discriminatorily to electric fields, and an upper electrode protective film 115 which exists on the insulative template 107. As a result, the electrophoretic display solves the flocculation problem among the charged particles by adopting the template having the holes of the diameter smaller than the wavelength of the visible ray region and can embody a monocolor and natural color so as to have reliability.
