PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light shielding label which does not include carbon black, which may cause cancer, has high whiteness, water resistance and opacity, and is suitably used for such synthetic resin raw materials as polypropylene, polyethylene, polystyrene or the like as an in-mold label. SOLUTION: In the light shielding label, the back face of the base material 1 for the label is provided with a painted layer 2 having a light shielding property, activated carbon in which complex carbohydrate is scattered as a dispersant is used in the painted layer 2 having a light shielding property, the glass transition point (Tg) of the binder used in the painted layer 2 having a light shielding property and the ratio of styrene polymer of the polymers composing a latex emulsion are defined, and further, the painting amount of the painted layer 2 having a light shielding property is defined.
