PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cured product of an epoxy resin, having a high glass transition temperature, a low dielectric loss tangent and flame retardancy; and to provide an epoxy resin composition providing the cured product. SOLUTION: A polyester having an aryloxycarbonyl group at the terminal of a molecular chain, and comprising an aromatic polybasic carboxylic acid residue and an aromatic polyhydric hydroxy compound residue having a bromine atom is used as a curing agent of the epoxy resin. The cured product has a high crosslinking density because the whole ester bonds forming the molecular chain of the polyester can be crosslinking points, and the cured product exhibits a low dielectric loss tangent even in high humidity because a carboxylic acid having a low molecular weight is hardly isolated from the cured product even if the ester bond is hydrolyzed. The epoxy resin composition containing the polyester has the excellent flame retardancy because the polyester has the bromine atom. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
