PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a label printer capable of performing reliable high-speed operation when constituting a label affixing system which reliably performs the printing on a label piece portion while skipping the label piece portion even when a label is missing or peeled, and is assembled with a label affixing machine, and a printing control method thereof. SOLUTION: The label printer skips a label piece portion without performing any printing operation when no label piece on a mount is detected, and prints a label piece which is transferred next, and controls a printing unit so that the label piece is printed when a label piece on the mount is detected by a sensor, the mount of the label piece portion is not printed when no label piece on the mount is detected by the sensor, but the label piece is printed when the label piece transferred next is detected.
