Classes 9(1) and 92 A container 4 for storing cartridge belts 5 in zig-zag layers has partitions 6 parallel to the end walls dividing the container into two or more compartments 4a, 4b in which the cartridges lie parallel to the side walls, each compartment having at the base of a sidewall an inlet 9 for the cartridge belt and at the top of a sidewall an outlet 10 for the belt, the outlet of one compartment being in the same sidewall as the inlet of the adjacent compartment to which the belt is fed as it passes into the gun 2. A conduit 11 curved at each end connects the inlet 9 with the outlet 10 and rollers 12, 13 respectively guide the belt through the orifices 9, 10. Compartment 4a is wider towards the base to increase its capacity and has an outlet conduit 14 through which the belt is fed into the gun. The mouth 15 of the conduit 14 is tilted upwards towards the muzzle of the gun, so that for moderate elevations there is little twist of the belt between the outlet 15 and the feeder 3. If there is a third compartment 4c, a conduit connects its outlet 17 with an inlet 16 to the compartment 4b. |
