Electronic control system for regulating cutting of sections of profiled workpiece using circular saw uses CCD-camera connected to picture evaluation circuit

The circular saw is adapted for cutting through profiled metal sections. The CCD-camera (Kamera) and the lighting control circuit (Beleuchtung) are connected to a picture processing circuit (Bilderkennung). This passes signals to a further circuit (Bildaufbereitung) connected to an evaluation circuit (Auswertung). The height and width of the workpiece cross-section are measured and a virtual outline of the circular saw is added to the objective picture. The length of cut required is calculated and fixed machine parameters (Feste Maschinenparameter) are added. Speed of feed may be measured and a signal is added to a machine control circuit (Maschinen-Steuerung).
