The present invention provides a freight forwarding system comprising a server hosting a communications module and a database on a communications network to which a freight customer and a service provider may access, the server being operable to generate a freight data input data regarding the freight to be shipped, transmit the data to a service provider and for the service provider to confirm receipt of a shipment order via the communications network. The system also comprises a transaction database wherein a iecord of the data communicated between the freight customer and service provider is storable.
