PLUG CONNECTOR HAVING A HOUSING AND A CLAMPING INSERT

A plug connector (1) has, inside a housing (2), an insulating body (3) that accommodates, in a known manner, contact elements, for example, contact pins and/or contact sockets that are connected to individual wires or strands (5) of an electric cable (6). The plug connector also comprises a clamping body or a clamping insert (7) for fixing the electric cable (6) relative to the housing (2), this fixing being effected by a clamping nut, preferably a union nut (9). In order to easily assemble these parts that are held at intervals determined in the axial direction, the insulating body (3) and the clamping body (7) are joined by at least one, preferably a number of spacers (10) whereby, to the side of the spacers (10), a radially open space (11) between the insulating body (3) and the clamping body (7) remains free. To this end, the insulating bodies (3) and clamping bodies (7) are preferably provided as separate parts that can be interlocked by means of spacers (10).
