<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To expand an area for satisfactorily observing the stereoscopic image including a neighboring object under test under an appropriate convergence. <P>SOLUTION: A device includes the imaging parts 16L and 16R of one left and right set, memories 20L and 20R that record left and right picture signals, a memory control 21, and a stereoscopic display part 12. The convergence is adjusted by detecting the distance information up to an object under test in a distance detection part 22 and by changing the read-out address of the left and right picture signals recorded in the memories 20L and 20R in response to this distance information.
