<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system used for leading, into a proper course, a vehicle traveling a road where signs drawn on the road surface cannot be seen in occurrence of a visibility disturbance phenomenon such as drifting snow in the vicinity of the surface of the road, or snow coverage to assist the vehicle to travel in the middle of a road lane, and thereby preventing its deviation. <P>SOLUTION: This system is used for providing course information to a driver or an automatic steering apparatus by constructing course guide signs having high contrast above a traveling lane center line 2 by combining an aerial sign 3 installed so as to be used as an existing object or a reflector above a driving lane 1 with an on-vehicle optical apparatus 6 for assisting visibility thereof. A safety travel issue on the road where drifting snow or the like occurs is solved by an embodiment wherein a wire or a train of reflection markers causing high light reflection, or a beam of light of an image is used for the aerial sign object 4; and when it is difficult to see the sign above the vehicle, the driver is assisted to see an irradiated part 8 of the sign by irradiating the aerial sign 4 with a projection part of an optical apparatus 6 mounted on the traveling vehicle 3, and a night-vision function by a video camera and a monitor display screen, and a displacement correction function by a position sensor are used. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
