PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an optical member which is reduced in transmission loss, prevented from deterioration in transmission loss due to moisture and heat, and excellent in mechanical characteristics, namely, has various well-balanced performances. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the optical member with a section formed of a polymer in a hollow container is characterized in that the polymer consisting of a polymerizable composition for optical member which contains a polymerizable monomer containing (meth)acrylic ester having alicyclic hydrocarbon and a mixture of a polymerization initiator, a chain transfer agent, and a compound having a refractive index different from that of the monomer is formed from an inner wall part in the hollow container toward the center.
