PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that when a fault occurs in shift register circuits of display element driving circuits in any one of display units, a normal serial signal can not be outputted to a succeeding display unit and lighting of all the display units can not be controlled. SOLUTION: The connection routes of display element driving circuits R11-R44 for controlling the lighting of display elements 21 in each display unit 20 are divided. Even when a fault occurs in any one of the shift register circuits R11a-R44a of the display element driving circuits R11-R44, only the divided minimum rows can be controlled to a non-display state, so that the display of character strings displayed on an information display device 10 can be continued without making the whole display illegible.
