The control (10) for opening and closing a motor vehicle sunroof panel (2) in an opening (1a) has an actuator (3) for moving the panel and an operating switch (23) for the actuator. The control operates if a resistance above a set value is sensed on closing of the panel. The preset resistance value can be increased to a second value if the switch is held for above a set time.
