摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illuminator for reducing mottles in brightness on a light emission surface and obtaining uniform luminous intensity. <P>SOLUTION: The illuminator comprises a light guide plate 5; a reflection surface 51 formed at the end of the light guide plate 5; and a light-emitting diode 6 arranged at the side of the bottom 55 of the light guide plate 5 so that light can enter the reflection surface 51. One portion of the light-emitting diode 6 overlaps with the reflection surface 51 and an end side 52 opposite to an advance direction A of the reflection light on the reflection surface 51 nearly crosses an optical axis 62 that is the central axis of a light source when being seen from the optical axis 62 of the light-emitting diode 6, thus suppressing the incidence of light emitted toward the right side as compared with the optical axis 62 of the light-emitting diode 6 to the reflection surface 51 and increasing the luminous intensity near the reflection surface 51 of the light guide plate 5 as compared with that in other portions of the light guide plate 5. More specifically, the generation of the mottles in the brightness of the light guide plate 5 is prevented and the luminous intensity of the light guide plate 5 can be made uniform. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
