<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the generation and recording of a log file in setting of invalidity while enabling the switching of log generating and recording function to validity or invalidity. <P>SOLUTION: This control method for operating an application program 1 on a host computer 2 to control a card reader 3 has a driver 4 and library 5 for providing various functions for controlling the card reader 3, and a log generating and recording function file 7 for providing a program code part for governing the generating function and log recording function of the log file 6 separately from the library 5 executed as part of the application program 1.
