PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focal plane shutter for digital still cameras for ideally cleaning rubbish and abrasion powder. SOLUTION: The portion between a shutter bottom plate 1 and an auxiliary bottom plate 2 is partitioned by a middle plate 4 for composing two blade chambers. The size of an opening 2a of the auxiliary bottom plate 2 is nearly the same as that of a photography picture frame and a solid-state imaging element 25 is arranged on the back in the camera. A low-pass filter 27 is mounted onto the front of the solid-state image pickup element 25. On a surface at the blade chamber side of the auxiliary bottom plate 2, a cavity is formed around the opening 2a and a transparent sheet 23 is removably mounted into the cavity by a screw 24. Although an opening 1a is formed on the shutter bottom plate 1 and an opening having the similar shape is also formed on the middle plate 4, the openings are larger than the external shape of the sheet 23, the sheet 23 is taken out of the opening 1a to a photography lens side for cleaning.
