PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline microorganism-supporting body, which has excellent ability to store alkaline microorganisms and can be stably produced at a low cost in large quantities, by selecting a suitable support; and to provide an alkaline composition containing Na+ ions by selecting it from highly safe industrial waste materials, in order to promote the application and the development of the alkaline microorganisms. SOLUTION: The alkaline bark, the alkaline composition, and the method of manufacturing the alkaline microorganism-supporting alkaline bark are characterized in that the alkaline composition is added to a bark (tree bark) compost so that the value of pH of the compost becomes higher than 7.5.
