PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital wireless communication apparatus wherein inter-slave-unit direct communication can be attained while maintaining inter-slave-unit communication via a master unit, the inter-slave-unit communication via the master unit can be smoothly shifted into the inter-slave-unit direct communication, and the inter-slave-unit communication via the master unit can be restored without the need for interrupting the communication even when the inter-slave-unit direct communication cannot be established. SOLUTION: The own slave unit 220 includes: an inter-slave-unit direct communication control section 224; and an inter-slave-unit direct communication shift control section 225 for establishing the inter-slave-unit direct communication while maintaining the communication with the master unit 100 as its control and transmitting a control channel of the inter-slave-unit direct communication through an idle slot of a time window at a receiver side through the communication with the master unit 100, and the opposed slave unit 230 includes: an inter-slave-unit direct communication control section 234; and an inter-slave-unit direct communication shift control section 235 for scanning the control channel of the inter-slave-unit direct communication for a time window other than the slot used for the communication with the master unit 100.
