PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a core shaft capable of easily fastening a held paper tube without using a complicated method and without producing dirt. SOLUTION: This core shaft comprises a shaft body 2, a clamp shaft 3 movably inserted into the shaft body 2, an elongated groove 4 formed in the shaft body 2, a lug 5 installed in the elongated groove 4 so as to be projected, a lug drive mechanism 12 installed in the shaft body 2, a holding means 16 circumferentially installed in the lug drive mechanism 12, a stopper 6 fixed to a clamp shaft 3 so that one end face of the lug drive mechanism 12 is allowed to abut thereon, and an energizing means 7 fixed to the clamp shaft 3 so that the lug drive mechanism 12 can be energized to a stopper 6 side. The lug drive mechanism 12 comprises a slide base 13 fitted to the clamp shaft 3, a first slider 14 fixed to the outer periphery of the slide base 13, and a second slider 15 movably placed on the first slider and fixed to the lug 5.
