PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suspension device for a vehicle capable of improving and stability in a high-speed range, and of providing damping force characteristics of driver's preference in a low speed range. SOLUTION: A hydraulic fluid of hydraulic cylinders 12, 12 for a pair of vehicle suspensions is composed so as to flow into a first oil chamber 22 and a second oil chamber 23 of a pressure governor 13. The oil chambers 22, 23 are communicated through a variable additional damping force valve 56. The suspension device for the vehicle 11 is provided with a control part 57 for controlling the variable additional damping force valve 56. The control part 57 enables additional damping force characteristics to switch in two or more stages, and which is enabled to select voluntary addition suspension characteristic by operation from outside. When the selected additional damping force characteristics are relatively the additional damping force characteristics of a small damping force, and when the vehicle speed becomes a predetermined forced switch vehicle speed or more, the variable additional damping force valve 56 is controlled so as to forcibly switch into the additional damping force characteristics of a large damping force.
