PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wastewater treatment method capable of controlling the operation condition of flocculation reaction corresponding to fluctuations in the BOD concentration or load of a wastewater to be able to stably perform the purification treatment of the wastewater. SOLUTION: The wastewater is received in a raw water tank or a raw water conditioning tank (10) to be sent to a flocculation reaction tank (20) and purified by a flocculation reaction. In this case, the flow rate of the wastewater flowing in the flocculation reaction tank is measured by a flow rate sensor (71) while the BOD concentration of the wastewater flowing in the flocculation reaction tank is measured by an absorbance sensor and the load to flocculation reaction is operated from the flow rate and BOD concentration of the wastewater flowing in the flocculation reaction tank to control the operation condition of flocculation reaction corresponding to the fluctuations in load.
