<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To raise an inner temperature of a fuel cell main body (a stack) quickly up to an optimum level without degrading performance of the fuel cell main body, even at start-up at a very low temperature. <P>SOLUTION: In adjusting the inner temperature of the fuel cell stack with heat of cooling water, a target flow volume of the cooling water is set in accordance with a fuel cell power generation amount or a requested volume for cooling the fuel cell, and flow volume of the cooling water is controlled so that a cooling water pressure in the fuel cell stack is below a requested withstanding pressure of the fuel cell stack at a low-temperature start-up. Since viscosity of the cooling water rises at the very low temperature, the cooling water pressure in the fuel cell stack gets too high if a normal flow volume adjustment is made according to the target flow volume, so that, at the very low temperature, the flow volume control is made, taking this viscosity rise of the cooling water into consideration. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
