PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant protection device of a vehicle capable of taking a measure for avoiding an influence of an airbag device by determining the existence of the influence of the developing airbag. SOLUTION: In this occupant protection device, a physical quantity on the physical constitution, e.g. body weight, of an occupant seated on a front passenger seat 3 is detected by a weight sensor 16, and the physical constitution of the occupant is determined by a determining means 17 from the body weight. When the occupant is determined as a child whose physical constitution does not reach a certain physical constitution, the airbag device 12 of the front passenger seat 3 is made nonoperational by an airbag non-operating means 17. An airbag OFF lamp 14 for prompting to take other measures for protecting the occupant is lit to notify the airbag device 12 of the front passenger seat 3 is in a nonoperating state. The existence of the influence of the airbag device 12 can be determined only by seating the occupant on the front passenger seat 3, and the child can be seated taking the measure not to be affected by the air bag device 12 in advance.
