PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of preventing the elongation and contraction or the color slurring of an image associated with manufacture errors such as the unevenness and the eccentricity of the diameter of a latent image carrier. SOLUTION: A copying machine is equipped with a plurality of image forming means having a photoreceptor functioning as the latent image carrier, an electrifying roller functioning as an electrifying means, an exposure device functioning as a latent image forming means, a developing device functioning as a developing means, an intermediate transfer belt functioning as an image carrier, and a transfer device functioning as a transfer means for transferring a toner image on the photoreceptor to the intermediate transfer belt, and equipped with a driving device functioning as an image carrier surface moving means for moving the surface of the intermediate transfer belt so as to successively abut on the surfaces of the photoreceptors of a plurality of image forming means. It is provided with a surface friction coefficient reducing means for reducing the surface friction coefficient of at least either the photoreceptor or the intermediate transfer belt.
