PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abrasive for flash removal, which can achieve surface roughness comparable to paper finish while ensuring flash removal in removing flash from parts made from a steel or iron stock comprising e.g. a steel or cast iron for a mechanical structure. SOLUTION: This granular abrasive allows removal of flash from parts made from a steel or iron stock comprising e.g. a steel or cast iron for a mechanical structure. It comprises a thermoplastic resin containing metal particles having a mean primary particle diameter of 0.01-0.4mm and a density of 6-20g/cm<SP>3</SP>, and inorganic particles having a mean primary particle diameter of 0.01-0.4mm and a Mohs hardness of 10 to 15.
