PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid wire for the circumferential weld of a steel pipe with which satisfactory welding operability and welding efficiency are secured on welding a steel pipe circumferential joint of high tensile strength steel, and a weld metal having sufficient strength and low temperature toughness can be obtained. SOLUTION: The solid wire comprises the components of, by mass, 0.04 to 0.12% C, 0.40 to 0.70% Si, 1.60 to 2.20% Mn, 0.003 to 0.040% S, 0.030 to 0.150% Ti, 0.0030 to 0.0070% B, 0.0050 to 0.0150% O, 1.0 to 4.0 ppm H, and at least one kind of metal selected from Mo and Cr by 0.35 to 1.20% in terms of Mo+0.8Cr, and, in inevitable impurities, the content of P is controlled to≤0.030%, Al to≤0.030%, Nb to≤0.015%, V to≤0.020%, and N to≤0.010%.
