PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer device for a welding line which reduces restriction of sequence of taking-up a workpiece with a handling jig and restriction of degree of freedom in design of the handling jig and loads the workpieces while respective other workpiecs are laid on surfaces of the both sides of a predetermined workpiece. SOLUTION: A second holding means 91to take up and hold a second workpiece W2 to be welded to one surface of a first workpiece W1 is constituted to move between a first holding position and a second holding position. The first holding position is located to hold the second work W2 at a position which is nearer on the side of a jig body 2b than the first workpiece W1 and does not interferes with a projection line of the first workpiece W1 toward the jig body 2b, and the second holding position is located to hold the second workpiece W2 on the first workpiece W1 with their welded portions superposed upon each other.
