PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To conduct maintenance of vegetation in time, by getting to quantitatively and accurately know a situation of activity of the vegetation which is not recognized by the naked eye, and by grasping a state of the vegetation whether it grows weak or not, before the state is actualized. SOLUTION: A health monitoring method for the vegetation comprises a step for taking infrared thermal image pictures of the target vegetation, quantitatively seizing behavior of surface temperatures of the vegetation, extracting the vegetation of which the temperature is raised, and grasping possibility of decrease of activity thereof, and another step for detecting spectral reflection characteristics of the vegetation, confirming the activity of the vegetation, and conducting the maintenance, such as fertilizer application and transplantation, when the activity is lowered.
