PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotor assembly for an alternator with a permanent magnet fitted to increase a power output. SOLUTION: The rotor assembly includes an exciting coil. Each of first and second pole pieces has an entirely circular body to form a rotating shaft and a periphery in an outside radial direction. A plurality of pole fingers are radially separated around the periphery in the outside radial direction of each pole piece, and are extended in an axial direction from the periphery in parallel with the rotating shaft. Each pole piece is radially separated around the periphery in the outside radial direction, and includes a plurality of mounting faces positioned between the pole fingers. A plurality of permanent magnets are positioned on the mounting faces. A plurality of straps includes tabs extended therefrom, and these tabs are fastened to the pole pieces to secure the permanent magnets on the mounting faces. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
