PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stirrer which prevents the development of inclusion in a glass-stirring step. SOLUTION: This stirrer for manufacturing glass comprises a shaft and a stirring blade. Here, at least the tip of the stirring blade is made of a material showing a Vickers hardness of 110-500 Hv after a heat treatment at 1,600°C for 2 hr, e.g. rhodium, a platinum-rhodium alloy containing≥20 wt.% rhodium, a platinum/iridium alloy, a platinum/ tungsten alloy, a platinum/nickel alloy, a platinum/zirconium alloy or a platinum/rhodium/zirconium alloy.
