<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low cost image forming apparatus by which a hard copy of photographic quality is possible in addition to normal color printing in a size which is equivalent to or smaller than that of the conventional color image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with: a first fixing device 15 to fix a toner image on a recording medium with the toner image transferred to it; and a second fixing device 31 with a maximum fixing width Y which is narrower than the maximum fixing width X which can be fixed by the first fixing device 15, for refixing the toner image fixed on the recording medium by the first fixing device 15 on the recording medium.
