HEAD PROTECTING AIRBAG DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head protecting airbag device capable of coping with transfer of a vehicle from side collision to rollover without any trouble.

SOLUTION: This head protecting airbag device M1 has an airbag 11 and inflators 37 and 38 for supplying expanding gas to the airbag 11. The airbag 11 is folded and stored on the upper edge side at the rim of a window W on the inside of the vehicle V, and downwardly develops and expands to cover the inside of the window W during inflow of the expanding gas. The airbag 11 has an upside expanding portion 12 on the upper edge 11a side in the airbag 11 at the completion of the development and expansion and a downside expanding portion 26 on the lower edge 11b side. The upside expanding portion 12 is developed and expanded by making the expanding gas flow so as to cover the window W when the side collision of the vehicle V is detected. The downside expanding portion 26 is expanded like a substantial rod along the lower edge 11b of the airbag 11 by making the expanding gas flow when the rollover of the vehicle V is detected.
