<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine start control device and a start control method capable of preventing irregular start of an engine with the usage of a reproduced key and preventing theft of a vehicle, and thereby having high security. <P>SOLUTION: When the key 7 of the vehicle carried by a driver is inserted into a door key cylinder 6, key side identification information set in the key 7 is sent to an immobilizer ECU 50, the key side identification information is collated with the identification information set in the immobilizer ECU 50, and an instruction for requiring meshing of a pinion 17 is transmitted to a controller 30 from the immobilizer ECU 50 when the identification information collates with each other. The controller 30 receives the instruction for requiring meshing of the pinion 17, and controls a starter 10 so that the pinion 17 and a ring gear 3 mesh to each other at a stop of the engine. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
