PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting unit for enlargement observation which is capable of switching between lighting from one direction and lighting from all circumferential directions through easy operation and prevents a recessed part and a projection part from being misrecognized and an enlargement observation apparatus equipped with the same. SOLUTION: Light from a light source part 11 of a controller part 1 is transmitted to a head part 2 through a bundle 31 for light guide optical fibers. In the lighting from all circumferential directions, a mask body 14 moves away from between the light source part 11 and an end surface of the bundle 31 of light guide optical fiber and then the light from the light source part 11 is incident on two blocks of the end surface of the bundle 31 of light guide optical fibers, so that light is projected from two blocks of the projection-side end surface of the bundle 31 of light guide optical fibers. In the lighting from one direction, the light from the light source part 11 is incident on one block of the center part of the bundle 31 of light guide optical fibers through an opening of the mask body 14 and light is projected from one block of the projection-side end surface of the bundle 31 of light guide optical fibers.
