PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To centrifugally separate a coating sludge from circulating water containing the coating sludge efficiently to make simply dischargeable the separated coating sludge from the centrifugal drum of a centrifugal separator. SOLUTION: The centrifugal separation method of the coating sludge which uses the centrifugal separator equipped with the centrifugal drum rotated at a desired rotational speed to centrifugally separate the coating sludge formed by the condensing treatment with coating mist contained in circulating water used in wet coating, is characterized in that it comprises a process for setting a filter bag made of cloth having water absorbility in the centrifugal drum so as to freely take out the same and supplying the circulating water toward the periphery of the bottom surface of the filter bag to centrifugally separate the coating sludge, a process for stopping the supply of water to eject air toward the peripheral side surface of the filter bag while rotating the centrifugal drum and peeling the coating sludge having adhered to the peripheral side surface of the filter bag and a process for stopping the ejection of air to again supply the circulating water to centrifugally separate the coating sludge.
