An electrical power supply (1) has two electrically isolated electrical part vehicle systems (5,6) for supplying electrical consumer loads with electrical power. The part-vehicle electrical systems (5,6) each have control devices (7,8) for controlling operation of an electrical machine, and they each are connected to an electromagnetic device (9,10) of the electrical machine (3), the electromagnetic devices (9,10) being designed as an electrical power generator system to supply electrical energy into the respective part-vehicle electrical systems, and in a motorized operating system to receive electrical energy from the part-vehicle electrical system and for use in driving the vehicle. The electromagnetic devices are electrically isolated from one another, and the control devices (7,8) are joined to a common control device (12) for controlling operation of the power supply. An Independent claim is also included for a method for operating an electrical power supply of a hybrid-drive motor vehicle.
