<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method which enables the effective suppression of toner consumption without a deterioration in the quality of an image formed based on image data, without reference to the types of the image data. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming method comprises: a first step (S1) for applying enhancement processing by applying prescribed space filter processing to the input image data; a second step (S2) for extracting a pixel serving as an edge part, in accordance with a density difference between a peripheral pixel and a pixel for the image data to which the enhancement processing is applied in the first step (S1); a third step (S3) wherein the density of the pixel, extracted as the edge part in the second step (S2), is substituted by a prescribed density; and a fourth step (S4) for removing pixels except the pixel whose density is substituted by the prescribed density in the third step (S3). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
