PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mutual authentication method and program, a recording medium with the program recorded thereon, an IC card, terminal equipment and an IC card management server apparatus which make it impossible to steal a private key of a user who utilizes services.

SOLUTION: The IC card is connected to terminal equipment 2 to perform mutual authentication with an application server device 4 and is provided with: a storage means 11 having an application correspondence information storage region DF 11 for storing one or more pairs of public key certificates and private keys so as to be read, added and updated and for storing a key container name specifying the pair via a certificate management table, and a certificate management table WEF 211 indicating a corresponding relation between a place where the pair is stored and the key container name; and a cipher authentication module 13 for creating a digital signature and encrypting data with the private key in the storage means 11.
