<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a probe compound for detecting a target nucleic acid, capable of functionally detecting the nucleic acid in high sensitivity while hardly causing cross hybridization. <P>SOLUTION: The probe has a nucleic acid having not only a specific complementary sequence complementary to a specified sequence but also a common complementary sequence complementary to the whole or a part of a common sequence, and shorter than the chain length of the specific complementary sequence. The method comprises measuring an amount of the probes immobilized on a carrier for immobilization. The method is the one for estimating the amounts of two or more kinds of target nucleic acids present in a sample respectively. The measurement of a fixed amount of the probes is facilitated by the microarray. The following problems (1) and (2) when detecting the two or more target nucleic acids having the common sequences at the both terminals of the specific sequences are solved: (1) the hybridization between the target nucleic acid and the probe is hardly formed by forming an intramolecular secondary structure because of the long target nucleic acid to cause false negative data sometimes; and (2) the stability of the hybridization is low to require the cleaning under a mild condition because the specific sequence is short compared to the length of the target nucleic acid and to cause the false negative data sometimes. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
