PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous ink which forms a high density image and does not cause the lowering of the water repellency in the neiborhood of the ink jetting nozzle section of a print head which has a mechanism for preventing ink jetting failure such as misdirection by repelling water in the neiborhood of the ink jetting nozzle section. SOLUTION: The aqueous ink contains a modified pigment on the surface of the particle of which an organic group is bound and an aqueous medium. The organic group includes a reaction product of a functional group bound directly to or via another atomic group to the surface of the pigment with a copolymer of an ionic monomer and a hydrophobic monomer. The aqueous ink contains at least one kind of ion selected from an alkaki metal ion, an anmonium ion and an organic ammonium ion. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
